A Cursed Painting
I recently finished The Picture of Dorian Gray, by Oscar Wilde, and ever since, I have been set on creating my own rendition of the notorious painting. The portrait is famous for its magical ability to morph over time to depict the corruption of Dorian’s soul. When I set out to create this piece, I was determined to give it the same magical capability. I eventually landed on projection mapping as the tool to carry out my mission. I created three different versions of the painting depicting the different stages of Dorian Gray’s descent into madness. Using Premiere Pro and MadMapper, I created a loop where each portrait fades into the next. I then projected the magical portrait onto my bedroom wall and mapped it to fit the inside of a very ornate looking frame. This is how I was able to bestow a legendary curse onto one of my own works of art.
